The South Down way in five days, without shoes!

Inspired by the Tarahumara

In 2010 I read the book ‘Born to Run’ by Chris McDougall…

In 2001 I had set off on a journey of healing my injured body.

I had run a top-level for a couple of decades and my body was out of alignment and hurt a lot.

Part of the re-aligning meant that I had some orthotics made to put in my shoes.

They helped to ease the pain – but I resolved to find a way to run free again without the need for support…

‘Born to run’ inspired me…

I also interviewed Chris McDougall for my podcast series – and over the next few years, I made my way to barefoot shoes and back to the barefoot running I had enjoyed on the grass track as a teenager.

And so this year I am journeying like the Tarahumara in my bare feet or with the tyres they put on their feet to protect when needed (in the form of Luna sandals inspired by their methods) over hill and dale…

The Tarahumara can run for miles and miles…

And so on Wednesday, October 27th I will set off from Winchester in my bare feet to end up in Eastbourne five days later on October 31st….

I would love you to join me for parts or all of it – you need to be fit for all of it 🙂

Here are the hotels I’ll be in for the SDW

Wednesday, October 27th – South Downs B and B
Thursday, October 28th – Comfort Inn Arundel
Friday, October 29th – YHA Truleigh Hill Shoreham by Sea
Saturday, October 30th – YHA South Downs Lewes
Sunday, October 31st – DA Vinci Hotel Eastbourne

Then, having journeyed – I will be running a workshop in Eastbourne

Monday November 1st 10am – 4pm

‘Staying in the step, trusting the next will take care of itself’

The cost of the workshop is £90

I am raising money and awareness for Crisis, the charity that supports the homeless, so if you would like to donate please go to my Just Giving page

And a percentage of the workshop fee will go to Crisis too…
